WE WELCOME THE CHANT CHOIR (Schola Cantorum)

WE WELCOME THE CHANT CHOIR (Schola Cantorum) to this Saturday’s 4:30 Mass (Oct. 14).  The Entrance, Offertory and Communion Antiphons sung at this Mass are from the Roman Gradual, which is the Church’s official resource for music at Mass.  The English translation of the Introit (Entrance) Antiphon’s Latin text may be found on page 517 of the Sunday Missal.  The Offertory’s translation reads in part: “Remember me, O Lord…put the right words on my lips, so that my speech may be convincing in the presence of the King.” (Esther 14: 12-13) The text of the Communion Antiphon is from Psalm 119: “Remove from me all scorn and contempt, for I have kept your commandments.”  The post-Communion motet is Panis angelicus  by Claudio Casciolini (1697-1760).
