This Saturday, Nov. 11, at the 4:30 Mass we welcome the Chant Choir. The Entrance, Offertory and Communion Antiphons sung at this Mass are from the Roman Gradual, which is the Church’s official resource for music at Mass. The English translation of the Introit (Entrance) Antiphon’s Latin text may be found on page 543 of the Sunday Missal. The Offertory’s translation reads: “Guide my footsteps, O Lord, according to your word, so that no iniquity may ever gain the upper hand.” (Ps. 119: 133) The text of the Communion Antiphon paraphrases today’s Gospel reading: “The five wise virgins took oil in flasks with their lamps; at midnight there was a cry: “Behold, the bridegroom is here; come out to meet Christ the Lord.” The post-Communion motet is Panis angelicus by Claudio Casciolini (1697-1760).
