As many of you will know, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish. The signature event marking this milestone will be the 11:00 Mass on Corpus Christi (June 18th), to be held in the Loyola Chapel (an earlier home of the Parish). The Mass will be followed by a Corpus Christi Procession, which will bring us back to our current home for a brief Adoration and Benediction, to be followed by a barbecue.
Fr. Mike has asked me to assemble a Special Choir for this event, so I am calling on you all to help provide the musical leadership for this celebration. I also ask that you please extend this invitation to any you may know who have been formerly associated with St. Ignatius who may have escaped my notice.
As to repertoire, I cannot be entirely specific until I know how many we will be, but the parts of the Mass will be mostly familiar to most of you. As to rehearsals, I would like to schedule two: on the Saturday June 10th at 9:00-10:30 a.m. and Friday June 16th 7:00-8:30 p.m., to be held at St. Ignatius of Loyola (not in the Loyola Chapel!). If you would like to participate but cannot attend these rehearsals, please let me know – I would find other times to meet with you.
Would you please confirm your participation by the May 28th?
Let’s do what we can to make this a celebration worthy of the day!
