ASSISTANT TO THE PASTOR

St. Ignatius of Loyola passionately seeks to grow as  a welcoming and joyful spiritual home where people encounter Jesus, choose to follow Him, and become fully alive.  We draw on principles of parish renewal and the New Evangelization to build up a church of missionary disciples, who help all people to know, love, and serve Christ and His Kingdom.

 We are looking for individuals to join our team who are equally passionate about making church matter and seeing lives transformed by Christ. 

ROLE

To assist the Pastor in navigating his role of leading and feeding his congregation and his staff, to guard his time so that he can maximize his role, and to provide personal assistance to him as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the Pastor’s calendar and daily schedule, having a complete understanding of his overall obligations and priorities, and help him navigate his priorities for each day;
  • Handle incoming and outgoing communications (written or otherwise), as directed by the Pastor and in conjunction with key staff as needed;
  • Handle any administrative tasks assigned by the Pastor;
  • Delegate work on Pastor’s behalf, as directed;   
  • Coordinate with staff involved in liturgical planning and arrangements and other ministries requiring the Pastor’s involvement  as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND KEY ATTRIBUTES

  • Administrative experience;
  • Has a strong understanding of the pastor’s role and priorities and is comfortable protecting and communicating these priorities;
  • Is honest, dependable, and can maintain complete confidentiality in dealing with information;
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and is able to deliver results;
  • Comfortable working with Mac/PC office software, Google G Suite, and has an openness to new technology;
  • Has strong familiarity with, and serves as an ambassador for the parish vision and mission;
  • Able to network and build professional relationships;
  • Is self-aware, teachable and demonstrates a passion for  growing personally and professionally;
  • Has a humble and supportive attitude.  Is able to receive direction and feedback and collaborate with Pastor and staff in a positive and constructive manner;
  • Desires to contribute to and be a part of a fun-filled, engaging work environment;
  • Displays and maintains an active spiritual life rooted in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

SUPPORT, SUPERVISION, AND EVALUATION

The Pastor is the first level of support, supervision, and evaluation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Minimum 10 hours per week, with a possibility of full time (total 35 hours) in other areas of work.  Schedule to be determined by the pastor; flexibility is an asset.

COORDINATOR OF EVANGELIZATION

ROLE

In consultation and cooperation with the Director of Pastoral Ministries, the Evangelization Coordinator is responsible for coordinating our primary tool of evangelization: Alpha.   The Coordinator will also support other evangelization efforts, such as events and other outreach activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, inspire, mentor and equip future leaders;
  • Lead by example (involvement in Leadership Summits, monthly All-Staff meetings, and weekly leadership meetings);
  • Oversee the logistics behind Alpha, and build, train and support the necessary teams to deliver the highest quality Alpha experiences;
  • Implement new/best practices related to Alpha;
  • Build plans for post-Alpha engagement in keeping with the overall parish strategy;
  • Grow Alpha at St. Ignatius (scope & attendance);
  • Build and manage Alpha database;
  • Work with the Director of Pastoral Ministries to plan and support other evangelization events and opportunities as needed.

  • Has participated in the Alpha course (not necessarily at St. Ignatius);
  • Displays and maintains an active spiritual life rooted in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ;
  • Fully embraces the St. Ignatius vision and mission;
  • Ability to work within a team and support healthy team dynamics;
  • Comfort working with Macs, PCs and Google G Suite and has an openness to new technology;
  • Desire to contribute to, and be a part of, a fun-filled, engaging work environment;
  • Servant leadership:  has a humble and supportive attitude.  Can receive direction and feedback, and collaborate with and support others in a positive and constructive manner;
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in dealing with information;
  • Is self-aware, teachable, and demonstrates a passion for growing personally and professionally;
  • Has strong organizational skills and can set and achieve goals;
  • Relationship manager: can connect, build, and nurture a broad range of relationships;
  • Can represent St. Ignatius in the community.
